International Women’s Day – Interview With Founder Courtney Ray
International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8 is a global day to celebrate the achievements of all women and drive change for a better and more equal world. As a female-founded and led business, we’re constantly striving to make Daily Blooms an empowering, inclusive and equitable space. We sat down with our inspiring founder Courtney to find out what International Women’s Day means to her, how we , life-changing advice and more.

Hi Courtney, what does International Women’s Day mean to you?

To me, it’s a day to celebrate and recognise the strength, wisdom and achievements of all the incredible women in our lives. But importantly, it’s also a day to recognise the need to push and actively drive change. Until the gap closes and the stereotypes, discrimination and bias end, we all need to keep pushing.

This years UN IWD theme is #CrackingTheCode, innovation for a gender equal future. How do you ensure this at Daily Blooms?

Great question! We’re a relatively small, close-knit team, and we recognise how important it is to help each individual by providing the tools they need to innovate and succeed. This can be anything from the way we celebrate wins, the type of communication we prefer, the types of tasks we enjoy and thrive at, how we work and where we work. All of these pieces of the puzzle are nuanced and can fit together differently for each individual.

Can you tell us about the women who’ve inspired you?

I’m inspired by different women every single day. I love speaking with other female founders who are living and breathing similar challenges to me. Juggling families, businesses and busy lives. I am so motivated and inspired by hearing their stories and sometimes when I feel overwhelmed, it’s great to have that network of incredibly passionate and strong women to lean on.

I’m also inspired by my mum who showed me that with determination, persistence and a bit of resilience, you can have the career you want, the family you want and the life you want.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

Figure out your priorities and make sure you’re working on them. To me, those priorities are health, family/friends and business (in that order).
What’s been your proudest achievement at Daily Blooms?
Without a doubt, it’s the team we have built. We have managed to build the most incredible, kind, enthusiastic and talented team over the last few years. I am incredibly proud of that. It also happens to make it a joy to work at Daily Blooms.
