Cass Danson | Blooming IRL

Meet Cass Danson — To say we are obsessed with Cass would be an understatement. We are wild for Cass's use of colour, contrast and design. Everything she touches turns to colour.

We had our very own sneaky peek into her 'Home Le Fleur' and gosh did it makes us want to go home, paint the walls and upgrade our minimal aesthetic to maximalism STAT!

Describe yourself in three words?
Creative, driven and thoughtful!
What do you do for work and what do you do for fun?
I’m a photographer and artist/illustrator and I run a small business where I turn my illustrations into removable wall decals. For fun I love to paint even though it’s also my job now. I also love getting out and about and spending fun days with my kids.
How do you get yourself out of a creative block?
When I feel like I’m having a creative block I just take a break. I don’t always need to be creating 24/7. Sometimes it’s nice to take some time and then get back to it when I’m feeling inspired.
What did you journey (professional or personal) look like to get to where you are today in your creative practice?
I’ve always loved photography, and right after high school, I got my first job at a photography studio and lab. There, I learned all the ins and outs of photography, photo editing, and film developing. However, the work environment wasn’t a pleasant one. After moving on from that job, I left my photography days behind for a while.

Years later, when we built our first home, I developed a strong interest in interior styling, which reignited my passion for photography—this time focused on interior and product photography. As I got more involved in decorating, I began experimenting with painting. It started with a mural in my daughter’s room, which inspired me to take my artwork to canvas and wall decals.
Now, I sell all my artwork and decals on my website.

Who, what or where do you look to for inspiration?
I’m very inspired by flowers. I love to paint/draw flowers but in an unrealistic way, almost as if they were made from paper cut outs. I’m also heavily inspired textile patterns and graphic art.

Do you have any words you live by?
Anything is possible! I tell myself that everyday to stay motivated and I truely believe it!
